bio

Jennifer Odem's sculptures and drawings address issues of transience and permanence, hand-crafted versus industrial, fragility and strength. Her sculptures specifically reference issues of gender through her choice of materials, which texturally look fragile, but are in fact strong, rigid objects. Jennifer Odem has exhibited and performed residencies throughout the United States and Abroad. Most recently she was a Professor of Sculpture at University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Odem is a native of New Orleans, where she lives and splits her time working there as well as in Long Island City, NY.
